Pastor Shawn McDaniel

The Lord led my wife and I to serve Highland Baptist Church in June of 2006, since that time God has blessed his ministry. God provided me a vision of a church that would be governed solely by the principles and doctrines recorded in God's Word. This church would teach and operate in biblical principles. People would receive instruction in the Word and could learn how to rise from burnt-out hopes, faulty life styles, and decrepit faith into the rights, privileges, and promises God has for us through Jesus Christ.

In addition, as Pastor, I have a personal commission from the Lord - the same commission Jesus gave to the Apostle Peter in the twenty-first chapter of the gospel of John - namely, "Feed my sheep." I alone cannot fulfill all the ramifications of that commission; so, the Holy Spirit has led many people to Highland Baptist to assist me.

All of us working together can play an important role in meeting the demands of the Ministry, as well as the spiritual needs of the "sheep" God sends. We are determined to make excellence of ministry our whole intent and objective in submission to our Heavenly Father. Then one day He might say to us as He said to Jesus: "Well done, thou good and faithful servant."

The primary purpose of this ministry is to minister the uncompromising Word and to proclaim the "Good News" of Jesus Christ. We intend to make an impact on our community, state, nation, and the world as we go forth to accomplish His will and establish His covenant through the demonstrated power of love.

April and I greatly appreciate you and your consistent love, support, and ongoing prayers. We love you with the love of the Lord and stand in agreement with you that your needs are met spiritually. May God's richest and best be yours as you continue to seek Him first.

Associate Pastor Logan and Madi McCool

I am very thankful to be a part of Highland Baptist Church. I have grown in a lot of areas of my life because of Highland Baptist Church. Ever since I was very young, I have always had a hunger for God in my life. That hunger for God was intensified through my parents’ divorce. Even through personal instability, I have always found God to be completely stable. I love Him for that! I became a Christian when I was 9 years old and I have not looked back. Through Jesus Christ, God has filled many voids in my life. God has moved and worked in my life in ways I cannot begin to describe! God has also instilled a love for people in my life. I love to meet new people! I feel called to any type of outreach. God has really been leading me to begin Christian Counseling. I am a student at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary finishing my Bachelor’s Degree in Christian Ministry. I am also pursuing a certification through a Grief Counseling program.

Madi and I have been married for 2 years. Madi is a Kindergarten teacher at Fayette Elementary School and loves every minute of it! We are very thankful for the transforming love of God and our church family.

Minister of Music Rusty and Melissa Adams

The Lord has blessed me with over 20 years in the music ministry. I am thankful for his faithfulness, grace and mercy he gives his children daily.

Melissa and I were called to Ministers of Music at Highland Baptist Church in 2016. God is doing amazing things in the music ministry thru individual lives and in our worship service.

I thank God for my wife Melissa and my two children, Emily and Brent and for their support in the ministry.

Youth Pastor Thomas and Kelsey Langdon

Being youth leaders is something Kelsey and I have been passionate about for many years. We both have felt a very strong calling to minister to youth age students. While in college we felt God put a calling on our lives to lead youth. We did not know how this calling would be used, but we were certain it is how God wanted to use us. We have now been youth leaders for two years and we have loved every minute of it. We find it great joy to pour into the lives of students. We strive to be Godly role models and set good examples for students by not only the words we speak, but also by our actions. Teaching students to love God, know the word of God, and live according to His will is what we base our ministry on.

We have been married for almost a year. Along with youth ministry, Kelsey is a teacher at Northport Elementary School, and I am currently working on a degree in physical education. We live in Gordo with our not so small puppy Chief, and we absolutely love being a part of the Gordo community. We are invested in the community and students because it is our home and always has been. Kelsey and I cherish the relationships we get to build with students and parents through our small town.
